Looks like a Navy recruitment poster

I guess this is my favorite photo of him. I think it was taken in the early 1950's. Frank looks content, almost happy. The US Navy was his life and family. To escape an extremely abusive home life he joined the Navy when he was about 17 years old. Frank was born in 1932 in the town of Burnsville N.C. Ironicly, one of his step-sons would join the US Air Force when he was 17 to escape an abusive home.

    It took me some 40 years to realize that I was from an abusive family. But the abuse was mental instead of physical -though my dad did believe in and use corporal punishment to 'keep us in line'. The mental abuse kept me from having any sort of a real relationship with a woman until I was in my 50's. Between the age of 18 and 50+, I had at least a dozen extramarital affairs, and a couple of them involved more than one other person. (Won't go into all the 'sorted details here'.)

    In hindsight, I suppose I was 'deep down' angry, but the woman who became my second wife recognized a problem and basically forced (along with the help of the counnty court system) me into therapy and later into anger management classes... Again, that's a whole other story -with some very funny parts.

    I admit that I still have anger issues. No doubt there are hundreds, if not thousands of people up and down the Garden State Highway who have been witness to and/or recipients of my 'rage'. People tell me I should write a book and try to chronicle the events of my life. According to many who have heard dribs and drabs of various stories, my life has been more than just a little exciting. But this isn't my blog. I just want my friend to know that any baggage he carries from the past is exactly where is belongs -In the past.

    A new friend recently told me something that has helped me a lot. He said, "Yesterday is a cancelled check. Tomorrow is a promissory note. Today is the real cash."

    If you do write a book, I'll illustrated it. The MIG story would be a cool comic book.
